The Story of Moss and Meadow
The Name (because therapists don’t do much without intention)
Most of us don’t think much about moss, well it’s quite amazing. It’s the oldest recorded living plant (estimated at 450 million years old) and is found on every continent. It soaks up water and slowly distributes it to neighbor plants to keep them safe and sustained. It acts as coverage for the soil and land around to prevent erosion. It provides shelter, food, and safety for many plants and creatures to find survive and thrive. They are incredibly hardy and can survive harsh conditions like fires and freezing temperatures.
Similarly, the meadows of our lands are miraculous. Holding such beauty through seasonal changes, we see wildflowers and grasses bloom and follow the cycle of life. They offer safety and protection to many small animals and our friends the honeybees. They act as safe guards and filters for clean water and even reduce greenhouse gases. You probably can’t drive too far without realizing these natural lands can be small or large- nevertheless they are all mighty important for our world.
We might take a few tips from the moss and meadows around us:
If we find ourselves in harsh conditions- can we embrace our resilience like the moss manages to do?
If we need some reminders of our value in this world, whether big or small - can we find solace in our own mind’s meadows?

Moss and Meadow came from a half awake dream as I was spending hours and hours learning to feed and sustain my child. Spending time thinking about how to help this new being how to not only physically survive, but also wanting to help her thrive in a world that can be tough.
Something changes you when you realize you’ll have a daughter in this world and I want her to know she is brave and capable of doing hard things. What better way to instill these values than through modeling them first hand!
Building a career aligned with my values is my top priority and despite the fears of the unknown; I’m here sharing a small bit of my dream so we can hopefully build bravery for your own dreams.
This story may not resonate with all clients and I hope my sharing doesn’t deter you for feeling welcomed here! We all have our own story about how and when we realize we can face our fears and show up openly and authentically. Sometimes it all starts from naming the dream and leaning into the possibilities.
My Approach & Values
01.
Courage
One of my top values is courage; being brave and taking some (appropriate) risk in order to lean into life in an authentic way is one of the main ways M&M came to be. My approach here lives through courage and you’re already showing strength in adversity by being here!
02.
Curiosity
Therapy is all about curiosity. How we came to be? Who do we want to be? What do we want to unlearn and relearn? Without a focus on curiosity we would not be here typing (or reading) this website. We would maybe be stuck in thinking that things can’t shift or soften.
03.
Openness
“To be open to new experiences, ideas, and options.” Whether you are new to therapy or this isn’t your first rodeo- I hope this experience at M&M shows you there are always beautiful ways to be open to something new. Don’t close yourself off from the possibility!
04.
Adventure
I thrive when there is a new adventure on the docket. Whether that is traveling abroad and trying to navigate new public transit or trying a new segment of the Ice Age Trail. Finding a way to embrace adventure is a way I find to not only survive in this world, but thrive in connection.
About Me
I hope you can get a feel for how I hold space in therapy just by reading a bit of the website. I truly have tried to show my authentic self and share about some professional skills I’m quite proud and passionate about. I truly believe therapy is hard and powerful. Nevertheless, I promise we will find times to laugh and celebrate the wins! I also promise I will ask “and what did you feel in your body?” many times. Our mind-body connection is so important in the room together. You may not (yet) be comfortable with noticing or exploring the depth of feelings, and I hope we can build some capacity to shift that discomfort!
I believe people harbor their own innate resilience, and with support, it is possible for you to emerge from struggles with alignment and confidence. I invite a space of openness, non-judgement, and empowerment to help facilitate such opportunities. Although therapy takes work and dedication, I believe it also deserves to be a space for laughter, celebration, and joy.
I love nature, hiking, kayaking, traveling, yoga, and spending time in connection with my people in this world. My fun facts are always I’m left handed and I’ve been a vegetarian for 17 years and counting.
I ground myself clinically in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), while being informed by Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies (DBT). I explore concerns through a lens of trauma, loss, and grief all while integrating somatic work, existentialism, self-compassion, and narrative approaches.
“You know me, I think there ought to be a big old tree right there. And let’s give him a friend. Everybody needs a friend.”
